No 14. Poppy Diagram
Museum researchers including Bob Duncan and Linda Newall identified 151 men from Emsworth who died in World War 1 (the “Great War”). Their research covered the Roll of Honour at St James’ Church, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, various ships casualty lists and individual family records. Of these, they were able to find the addresses of 78 men and these are mapped on a diagram.
The map can be found on the swing panels on the north wall of the main exhibition hall and reminds us of the devastating impact the First World War had on the Emsworth Community.
